Razzle Dazzle

Razzle Dazzle is a form of movement camouflage invented by British marine artist Norman Wilkinson April 1917.

Workshop Activity

  • Observe model ships on backdrop from a static perescope.
  • Test your ability to judge angle of movement of ship from your position.
  • Develop individual designs to confuse the shilouette of model ship.
  • Test designs and compare to base line results of uncamouflaged model.

The workshop will include the mathematics involved where age appropriate or can be left as an impression for younger pupils.

A background of the history of Razzle Dazzle with examples of original designs, and full support in developing participants own design.

The net ship layout with painted design can be kept as a souveneir at the end of the session.
